The Respite House offers the opportunity for individuals with a disability to experience some time away from home in a supported, safe, positive, and fun environment, while also providing an opportunity for families and carers to experience a much needed break from their caring role.
The Respite House is a spacious, purpose built low set house located in Railway Estate (one of Townsville’s southern suburbs). The Respite House service is funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services and is staffed by the Community and Care Coordinator and Disability Support Workers.
Who is eligible?
Respite House is accessible to individuals with disabilities who have been assessed as being eligible to receive a Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services funded service; as defined within the Disability Services Act Qld 2006, who are aged up to 65 years, from Townsville and surrounding rural areas. The majority of referrals must come to us from the Department-Disability Services who assess eligibility and complete the Assessment process.
When can I access Respite House?
