Counselling Intervention Service
The Counselling Intervention Service (CIS) in Mount Isa can provide you and your family with a range of culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Individual counselling for children, adults and carers
- Relationship or family enhancement
- Family therapy
- Household management
- Information and referral
Issues that may be addressed include:
- Adjusting to alternative care placement
- Parenting techniques
- Behavioural difficulties
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse and neglect
- Anger management
- Disengagement from mainstream schooling
- Personal empowerment and support
Referrals can come from the individual, other services, or the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services). For an individual or family to engage in the service there must be some level of involvement with the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services).
This program is funded by the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services) and there is no fee for accessing this service.
