Our Whitsundays Community Recovery Services has been developed to support the individuals and families of the region recover post-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Centacare NQ's team dedicated to helping the community access the information and resources they need to assess their circumstances and to empower their choices, decisions and plans for the future.
Both Financial and Generalist Counselling services are available via static, at work or in-home appointments.
The Financial Counsellor will provide information and advice those who require more complex support, including:
- Negotiating complex financial issues with creditors;
- Advocating with utilities and low level creditors and assisting clients to access concessions and subsidies;
- Providing advice on where to go to access assistance; and
- Advocating on behalf of clients.
The Generalist Counsellor will providing counselling activities that help support individuals and families to assess their personal circumstances and enhance their capacity to deal with the mental, emotional and social difficulties that can result after a natural disaster.
All services will operate standard business hours from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm plus some extended hours to ensure support is accessible to those who work fulltime.
Both the Financial and General Counselling services are provided free of charged and can be booked directly with us.
This program is funded by the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors and there is no fee for accessing this service.
