Reconnect clients develop their potential with Sport 4 Life

Reconnect clients develop their potential with Sport 4 Life

Sport 4 Life is a Stride recreation program ran by Whitelion, that encourages physical activity whilst promoting teamwork, goal setting, communication and leadership skills. Positive role models who have achieved success through Australian Rules Football (AFL), basketball and hip hop dance help to facilitate these workshops.

A program has just wrapped up, which saw professional basketball players Joe Hurst and Sharin Milner help facilitate the activities for 56 children in the first age group of 7 years to 12 years, and 18 children in the second age group of 13 years to 17 years.

Centacare NQ is proud to support the program through organising transport for clients, supervision and assisting with serving lunch. As a follow on from Sport 4 Life, the Reconnect team will be running afterschool activities at our Short St office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3pm to 4:30pm to continue building capacity and involvement in pro-social activities. Jumping Joe Hurst has given Centacare NQ assess to a NBL book full of activities to do during the afterschool activities. The next Sport 4 Life program will be in April next year.

For more information, please call our Short Street office on 4749 8100.
