StandBy Response Service North West Central QLD
Suicide Postvention Support
The StandBy Response Service is a community based program that provides a 24 hour coordinated response to assist families, friends, associates and witnesses who have been bereaved through suicide. The program offers support regardless of when or where the suicide occurred by being a central point of contact linking people with the right support at the time of greatest need.
StandBy provides crisis outreach support to individuals and groups through:
- 24 hour telephone support
- Face to face support
- Community referrals
StandBy also works with communities to now how to appropriately respond to suicide and provide pathways to care to support those bereaved by suicide. This occurs via community engagement and education and training activities including the Pathways to Care and Crossing the River workshops. These interactive community training events provide in-depth understanding of the experience of suicide bereavement and how everyone, including agencies, groups, individuals and local businesses, can participate in StandBy’s coordinated approach to suicide loss.
