TINT & TINK Professional Training Workshop

22nd May 2019

Centacare North Queensland will host a three-day professional training workshop in June to educate professionals the key skills taught to parents in both the Tuning in to Teens (TINT) and Tuning in to Kids (TINK) programs.

Presented by Christiane Kehoe of The University of Melbourne, TINT and TINK are emotion focused pareting programs for parents of children aged 3 1/2 years to 18 years. The programs target specific skills of emotion awareness, acceptance and coaching and incorporate self-care and mindfulness. TINT presents parents with additional material on adolescent development and the changes and challenges that this age and stage bring to family life.

The programs meet a significant gap in available interventions for parents/carers of children and teens. They target the attachment between parents/carers and their children, improving the way parents communicate emotionally. Both programs have been researched at the University of Melbourne and are evidence based.

What is included in the training?

The training will teach professionals the key skills taught to parents in the program using direct teaching, watching DVDs, demonstration, small group exercises, role plays and group discussion. There is a separate manual for each program.
