The Ville Resort-Casino & Centacare Partner For RGAW

The Ville Resort-Casino will glow green this week to show its support for Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW) 2019.
RGAW is held in Queensland from 29 July to 4 August which encourages gamblers to stay within their limits and highlights the support available to anyone who feels that gambling may have become a problem.
Centacare North Queensland is the official not-for-profit agency appointed by the Queensland Government to facilitate free and confidential gambling help counselling for problem gamblers and their family and friends across North West Queensland.
The Ville’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Jones said lighting up the iconic property was just one way the casino can help raise awareness about the importance of responsible gambling to its patrons and the community.
“We’re really delighted that we can be involved in helping Centacare North Queensland spread the word about responsible gambling during this important week,” he said.
“But we’re also committed to living and breathing that message for the other 51 weeks of the year as well, by not only promoting responsible gambling in everything that we do but also making sure that our patrons are aware of the many support services available to them should they experience any issues.”
Centacare North Queensland Executive Director Paula Washington said the partnership with The Ville played a crucial role in reaching everyone in the community, to understand what it means to gamble responsibly.
“There is no denying gambling is a part of our society and it can be fun, but it’s when it starts to impact on your life and relationships, we want people to know there is free and confidential help available to them.
“RGAW is about spreading the message that it’s OK to ask for help and we can support people to learn strategies on how to manage their gambling before it gets out of hand and how to regain control,” she said.
“We are honoured to partner with The Ville to raise awareness of responsible gambling across the community. The Gambling Help team will be at The Ville on Tuesday 30 July with free resources if anyone wants to come talk to the team or get more information.”
