The Family Relationship Centre is auspiced by Centacare and funded by the Commonwealth Government to support families. The Centre, which opened in 2006, was established as part of the legislative changes to the Family Law Act and the identified importance of family relationships for children's development and well-being. The family friendly centre has a library, café and staff on hand to assist with questions in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The centre also assists families by providing Family Dispute Resolution for families who are wanting to discuss parenting arrangements. As well as the main centre, there is also a micro-Family Relationship Centre in Mount Isa based within Centacare offices

Some of the reasons why people may come to the Family Relationship Centre include:
  • Relationship or family enhancement
  • Family / relationship information
  • Separation and parenting arrangements
  • Parenting issues
  • Conflict and communication
  • Information and referrals to other services
  • Information and literature about enhancing family relationships
