Eligibility to access service

Referrals are primarily received from the Department of Housing, although there may be some scope for referrals to be received from other agencies if there are positions available.

There are three main areas of eligibility for this program.  Firstly, participants need to have relocated from Palm Island to Townsville.  Secondly they need to be living in social housing (government subsidised public housing) and thirdly participants must also be actively looking to engage in training and/or employment opportunities.

Professionalism

At Centacare, we have a Case Worker and a Support Worker in the PiP Program.  Staff have a combination of relevant qualifications and/or experience to assist them in their roles.

Workers are ethically bound to refer clients whose issues are outside their area of expertise or where the issues do not fit within the guidelines of our service.

Session Times

Workers will meet with participants to develop a unique Case Plan to address their goals and activities.  Frequency and duration of sessions will differ for each participant depending on what their needs are and what stage they are up to in their intervention.

Additional appointments or appointment times can be negotiated directly with your counsellor.

Confidentiality

Counselling is confidential within the limits of legal and professional boundaries. This can be clarified with your counsellor if you are unsure as to what this means for you.

Fees

This is a government funded service.  There are no associated fees for participants.
