Centacare NQ builds capacity through providing support and community engagement to regional and rural areas across North Queensland.

Programs

BOWEN FINANCIAL RESILIENCE SERVICE

(Bowen and Collinsville)

Provides information, assessment, counselling, and advocacy and referral services to people within the Bowen and Collinsville area who are experiencing financial difficulties as well as considering the underlying attitudes, values, motivations and barriers contributing to the financial issues.

COMMUNITIES FOR CHILDREN INITIATIVE

(Mount Isa)

An initiative to support healthy young families, including early learning and care, and the provision of community education programs and activities such as playgroups.

GAMBLING HELP SERVICE

(Townsville, Mount Isa, Outreach to Ingham, Charters Towers, Burdekin, Palm Island, Cloncurry and surrounds)

Provides counselling and support services for people with program gambling behaviours, their partners, families and friends. After hours and telephone counselling are available. Community Education Programs about problem and responsible gambling are available for groups, community organisations, schools or businesses.

The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is a two-year home-based parenting and early childhood enrichment program for families with young children.

SCHOOL SAVVY

(Townsville & Cloncurry)

In preparation before school goes back at the start of each school year Centacare NQ hosts School Savvy pop-up shops across the region to assist families financially struggling to affordable school uniforms and supplies. At the pop up shops you will find pre-loved local school uniforms and stationery.

Uniforms and donations are welcome to support the school savvy initiative.
